Morosini Fountain, Heraklion, Crete, Greece was built in 1628 at the instruction of General Franceso Morosini. It is regarded as one of the most famous and memorable Venetian monuments in Crete, though its original purpose was practical rather than for it's beauty. Over 1,000 barrels of drinking water per day were pumped from the Archanes springs to this fountain via a complicated system of waterworks. Enter Eleftheriou Venizelou Square and you’ll see the famous fountain in the centre with the four lions supporting the central basin. When the fountain was first built it was topped with a large statue of the Greek God Poseidon, though this has long since disappeared believed to have been pulled down during Ottoman rule. Heraklion Webcam courtesy of: ΔΗΜΟΣ ΗΡΑΚΛΕΙΟΥ

Situated in the town of Chania on the island of Crete, Greece Eleftherias Square lies on a major thoroughfare just a little to the east of the central region and old town. Chania's courthouse lies on the square along with the orthodox church of St Peter & Paul.

The main Andrea Papandreou street takes from from the pretty green square to the old town central hub of Chania. Our live webcam here gives you an eye onto this pretty square and the busy streets that sourround it. Webcam courtesy of Δήμος Χανίων

The beautiful promenade and port of the town of Sitia in eastern Crete is a wonderful place to sit and watch the world go by.
Sitia is a true 'Cretan' town largely untouched by the tourism that bustles further west and have a unique atmosphere all of it's own & a quieter, slower pace than the larger towns such as Chania & Heraklion.
